What kind of test is this, and where should you begin?
ETS rebuilt the TOEFL in January 2026. If you have studied for it before, much of what you learned is now about a test that no longer exists. This walks you through the format one task at a time — a short explanation, then one real example — and ends by telling you which task to work on first.
17 questions, about twelve minutes
No score, no pass mark. A sample this short cannot predict a TOEFL result and this will not pretend otherwise
Nothing is timed. The real test is; this is not, because it is measuring what you can do rather than how fast
Reading, Listening, and the one Writing task that has a right answer — Speaking and the two written tasks need more than a quiz
