Let's work on the thing nobody teaches you.
Your English is good — that isn't the problem. The problem is that English speakers, especially at university, hide instructions inside politeness. “You may want to consider…” sounds like a suggestion. It usually isn't one.
Miss it and you miss a deadline — not because your English failed, but because nobody ever told you the rule. Getting it wrong here is genuinely fine; it's how the lesson sticks, and far better now than in your first semester.
What you'll do
- 1Read one real document — an email, a message, a notice — just as it would arrive.
- 2Choose what you'd actually do about it. No timer, and no going back.
- 3See how that turns out.
- 4Then find what the words were really doing — and meet the same trick somewhere else entirely.
